WordPress theme of the week: Shapeshifter

Theme of the Week No Comments

ShapeShifter is a responsive and adaptive premium WordPress Theme from one of the Themeforest’s best authors, Epicera. It is a comprehensive framework that is fully adaptible and fits perfectly at any resolution (even at mobile resolutions). Markup is clear with simple semantic class names that everyone will understand straight away. It is based on the popular 960.gs grid which follows all the latest design trends.

Overall design is clean and simple and is perfect for any type of website (company or personal). Main menu is set on the left part of the website with a lovely subtle hover effect. If the sidebar size exceeds the browser windows height, the menu will scroll with the other content, otherwise it will stay fixed at the left. Kudos to that, it really works great in all the resolutions that I tested in.

What separates ShapeShifter from most WordPress Themes is the front page. The whole website is on the front page and you can get to certain parts by scrolling or by clicking the menu items. I really like the subtle animation that scrolls the window to the certain subpage. If you do not like the responsive menu you can always switch back to traditional one.

Portfolios are filterable and that is one feature that is missing in a lot of wordpress themes. If you have an extensive portfolio then this is a must have. Filtering is done dynamicly, which means portfolio items will change on the fly when you click on different tags. It is really fast and responsive (no annoying page loading).
